International Theatre Institute

Publications

We have designed several publications for the International Theater Institute (ITI). Although they are very diverse, they all follow an overarching design concept that uses a simple print layout with colored typography on solid-colored paper.

Joyful Connections

In a world marked by inequality, conflict, and crisis, what does it mean to be creative, to build connections, and to resist? The ITI Academy brings together artists, theater professionals, scholars, and civil society actors from diverse regions and contexts to explore these questions through dialogue, artistic research, and collective practice.

This publication offers a glimpse into the ITI Academy (2024–2026). Through essays, artistic reflections, a manifesto, and an interview, the contributions explore artistic freedom, resistance and resilience, care and collaboration, bodily autonomy, decolonization, and the possibilities of international exchange.

With contributions by Dora Yuemin Cheng, Sara Amini, Alex D. Loo, Lloyd Nyikadzino, Deepika Arwind, CHEN Zhongwen, Malin Nagel /Dr. Juliane Zellner.

Why we cooperate

In this publication marking the 70th anniversary of the German Center of the ITI, various contributors reflect on the past, present, and future of international cooperation in the cultural sector.
